Business Management
It can be a good idea for a business owner to get away with his key
people and do some higher-level thinking about the enterprise. Sometimes
these meetings are called a "retreat". I don't particularly
like that term, but you get the idea. These types of sessions are
often conducted over a day or two. Because it involves planning
beforehand, the cost of facilities and accommodation and the fact
that the key people in the business are away from the coalface for
a couple of days, means that the process can be quite costly.
As cost reduction, faster delivery and increased customer satisfaction
become more critical issues, the concept of removing a step in the
supply chain management process by sending some goods to the dealer
directly from the supplier is providing significant benefits to
the entire supply chain. In a streamlined direct supply process,
the distributor plays a pivotal role.
Have you ever visited a store and decided to leave before you bought
anything because the employees working there were rude or too pushy?
I have and I'm sure you've had at least one experience like this.
Customer service is one of the most overlooked aspects when running
a business. Managers tend to think that customer service will just
fall into place. However, that is not the case. It is an aspect
of business that needs to be worked and improved upon, just as you
would work on sales and advertising.
Having a good mission statement for your company is essential and
it really does not matter how big or small your company. Consider
it like a Constitution really. It is much about the goals and objects,
morals and integrity, as well as the link between what you do in
the market place with what you do internally in your organization.
It needs to be a yardstick of sorts, which also clearly indicates
what you consider winning and success.
Franchising executives need to be careful to hand terminated and
disgruntled franchisees with special care because a franchisee who
feels that they have been wronged or decides to act on revenge can
cause a franchise system a whole lot of problems. Often they will
start calling up State and Federal Regulatory Bodies and complaining
about the company.
